Farm Shares are an awesome way to enjoy fresh produce all summer long while supporting a local business. This year, there’s a great new way to find your 2013 farm share: the “Farm Share Fair” on Thursday, March 14 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Cambridge College. It’s one-stop shopping for your 2013 growing season!
So what’s a farm share? Sometimes called a CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, a farm share delivers fresh veggies, fruit, and sometimes meat or dairy products to your community at convenient pickup locations every week. As a customer, or shareholder, you purchase a stake in the growing season before it begins, which helps small, local farms to sustain their businesses year-round. What better return on investment than fresh produce for your family every week?? Learn more about how they work at LocalHarvest.com.
The Farm Share Fair brings together more than 20 Massachusetts farmers alongside restaurants, specialty food vendors, non profits, food trucks and more. You’ll have an opportunity to meet the growers, learn how a CSA works, and sign up on the spot for the 2013 season. The event is free, and they are even giving away prizes and gift certificates to anyone who signs up for a farm share that day!
Even better, 15% of proceeds from the 2013 Farm Share Fair will go to support theMOVE, a Cambridge-based non-profit that organizes reflective farm-volunteer workdays for diverse urban groups across Metro Boston.
